Gold and blue flourished Copperplate calligraphy script for Roy Croft’s ‘Love’
James got in touch with me to create a beautiful memento for his wife of their wedding day. As a gift to her, he wanted Roy Croft’s “Love” poem written in calligraphy.
I showed James examples of both formal Copperplate script and a more relaxed modern calligraphic style, to see what resonated with him. We agreed that a formal copperplate script, with added flourish, would work best.
He shared the venue’s colour scheme of Cornish Cream blue (yes, he paid close attention to detail), and we looked at three ink colour options: classic black ink, elegant gold ink, or a delicate and theme-matching blue ink. He chose the blue ink, which I teamed with a gold capital for each line.
I love creating these very personal keepsakes for couples and I’m really happy with how this piece turned out for James and his wife.
